Familiar But Fresh
Although Magpies already already had an established style, we stared the project as we normally do by created a mood board of existing styles that might resonate, and building a logo and identity across various meetings. In the end, we built an identity that remained familiar and yet fresh for Magpies’ customers.

Exterior Branding
We created exterior signage for Magpies that evoked the simple aesthetic of the general store of old. We worked with Sanford in order to create signage that met the stringent requirements for the historic district and still met the brand’s needs.
Interior Branding and Signage
Magpies carries an eclectic assortment of goods with a particular aesthetic that customers love, and we ensured that any branding in the store interior would not clash. In order to blend in, we created several brand art pieces created in order to showcase brand elements in a subtle way. We also created vinyl decals for existing chalkboard pricing labels and signage so that the staff could continue to use the chalkboards that have been part of the store experience. Everything in the space was created to utilize existing materials whenever possible.
Magpies needed to draw attention to the different areas of the store without distracting from the existing aesthetic or degrading the experience. We created a simple way to guide people to different areas of interest within the store by creating several magpie footprints that could be placed on the floor in different areas and easily removed. This kept within the magpie theme and the idea of the magpie guiding visitors to treasures within the store, adding depth to the discovery experience.
